Firstly, go to the Your Alter Ego page and complete the quiz (it's fun). Check who your alter ego could be, then get in touch by submitting your details and a brief message. Otherwise, get in touch directly via the Contact page. You'll receive a response with some questions to get to know you a little better. You'll be invited to an IRL hat consultation at the studio in Brunswick, Melbourne.
If that doesn't work, a phone or video call can be scheduled with you, followed by a moodboard and process doc with a few simple steps to ensure your dream ZIG comes to life!
Each ZIG is meticulously hand-crafted by owner and hatmaker, Natasha Jordan Bauer. Located in Brunswick, Melbourne, Natasha injects the utmost amount of love, sex and magic into each and every hat. Ensuring all clients are 100% fulfilled and can be the most confident and best version of themselves.
All ZIGS are made from high quality, mostly natural materials. Whether it be rabbit felt, straw, cotton, silk, feathers and different kinds of leathers.
Upcycled, second-hand, vintage and found materials are used where possible to better the planet. Such materials may include signs of wear and imperfections given their second life.
Polyester, plastics and other synthetic materials are rarely used.
You've come to the right place!
There is a ZIG out there for everyone! The beauty of a custom made hat is that it's made to your head and your head only. Considerations such as; size, shape, height, felt thickness, colour, brim width and brim type are all taken into account to ensure your ZIG not only suits you, but becomes apart of you.
All ZIGS are made from high quality materials, designed to get better with wear and age.
Each one a family heirloom that can be passed down from generation to generation, provided its looked after.
If you're after a more distressed look, then anything goes!
Otherwise, to slow down the aging process, keep out of direct sunlight for long periods of time (especially that Aussie sun). Store in the hat box away from damp, musty areas so little critters such as silverfish don't go hammer and tong on the felt – it's always handy to put camphor or an odourless moth/silverfish repellant in the hat box.
You can buff a little blemish out of the felt using fine sand paper. A warm, damp cloth can be used on straw with either a little bit of diluted tea tree oil or orange oil – always test a small patch first in an unnoticeable area.
To flatten out the brim for felt, lay the ZIG on a flat surface, place a piece of calico or plain cotton material over the top, run a hot iron over the felt with a few shots of steam, making sure to keep direct heat away from the hat band in case it causes damage (especially if it's leather). Allow to dry. You can apply the same process to a straw brim but use a hot, dry iron with no steam.

Made from high quality, mostly natural materials that stand the test of time. Such materials incur a higher price point which deems each ZIG an approachable, yet luxury item.
A movement that celebrates confidence, individuality, the alter ego, and the power of true expression.
Inspired by David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust' and that of German origin – ZIGGI meaning 'victory' and ZUVER short for zuversichtlich, meaning 'confident'.
